Job Description

As such, an exciting government opportunity for a Senior Safety and Governance Advisor has become available, working towards providing technical advice and support to our client's workforce about health, safety and wellbeing management systems and legislative requirements.

About the Role
  • Lead the coordination and conducting of audits as per the internal audit program to effectively monitor and measure the health of the HSW system and the effectiveness of implementation, including the integrity and effectiveness of online systems.
  • Evaluate and analyse the HSW system performance to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvement initiatives in the implementation and enhancement of the HSW management system.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organisational-wide HSW Management System that is based on the risk profile of the organisation.
  • Participate in the investigation and reporting of incidents, non-conformists and reviewing the effectiveness of risk management and HSW management processes for continuous improvement of the HSW management system.
  • Lead and assist the Health, Safety and Well-being Group in the development and utilisation of strategic and operational processes to address and improve HSW risk determination.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety (Diploma or Advanced Diploma) with relevant experience; or an equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training, professional accreditation and qualification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and legislation related to Work Health and Safety with minimum three to five (3 - 5) years' experience in health and safety role within a large and complex organisation.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in an OHS/WHS role supporting the management of WHS, Risk and Information Management Systems.
  • Lead Auditor in OHS Management Systems or knowledge and experience of OHS/WHS auditing in an organisation that is Self Insured for Workers Compensation.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or demonstrated ability to deliver WHS training in a large and complex organisation.
