Surgical Materials Management Technician - 10:30am-7pm (FT)

Maintain an accurate inventory through the implementation of various receiving protocols. Able to receive inventory, pulls cases, must take call on rotating basis, restocks inventory daily, rotates stock and checks outdates.

Job Specific:

  • Understand the Inventory Management computer system (EF).
  • Adjust and maintain par levels (EF).
  • Replenish OR Inventory stock daily (EF).
  • Control back orders (EF).
  • Maintain inventory balances / takes manual inventory to ensure accuracy of inventory (EF).
  • Perform accurate physical inventories (EF).
  • Receive all shipments / verify manufacturer’s item number, description, quantity and units received, department cost center (EF).
  • Complete receiving transactions – process pending (EF).
  • Resolve shortages, over shipments, damaged items, items without purchase orders (EF).
  • Maintain files – packing slips, bill of lading, freight bills, delivery documents, pick tickets (EF).
  • Pulls all surgical cases daily (EF).
  • Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment and supplies (EF).
  • Store and rotate sterile items according to expiration dates (EF).
  • Inventory, select and replenish supplies to medical / surgical carts on a regular basis, and monitor quota levels and changes in demand levels (EF).
  • Make appropriate substitutions when necessary and report problems regarding availability of instruments and supplies (EF).
  • Use computers to process and maintain records (EF).
  • Communicate with operating room personnel to provide required instruments and surgical supplies (EF).

Hospital:

  • Adheres to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
  • Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital’s Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
  • Performs within the prescribed limits of the hospital’s Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
  • Performs within his/her professional Scope of Practice at all times.

Required: Two (2) years experience in inventory control / distribution with computerized systems.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Required: Knowledge and skills of receiving all shipments / verify manufacturer’s item number, description, quantity and units received, department cost center. Knowledge of sterilization of supplies, equipment and instruments.
