About the Role : An opportunity to work across Metro Melbourne and a thriving regional city a short drive away.

The Emergency FACEM provides specialist emergency medical care and ensures smooth patient flow for patients presenting to the Emergency Department. During clinical shifts, the Emergency FACEM provides clinical leadership to ensure optimal outcomes by working with the multidisciplinary team.  The Emergency FACEM supervises the work of Registrars and Junior Medical Officers (JMO’s) and is involved in teaching both junior doctors and medical students. Collaboration with other staff and specialists is required where appropriate, including providing some services out of hours and on weekends. The clinical component of these positions is shared equally between Hospital’s ED departments, with flexibility to consider alternatives for successful applicants. The Emergency FACEM will contribute to the overall strategic planning and improvement of clinical care and service delivery provided to the hospitals consumers, promoting they services as a quality regional health service provider.  The Emergency FACEM will support the values and strategic priorities of the Melbourne Hospital providing excellence in Emergency Medicine clinical service, and supporting teaching, research, and clinical governance programs.

Emergency Department
  • 36-bed ED, expanded from 18
  • Three state-of-the-art resuscitation bays
  • Behavioral Assessment room, mental health consult spaces, forensic room
  • Two negative pressure isolation cubicles
  • Nine additional acute care cubicles
  • Dedicated Fast Track area with seven cubicles and a consultation room
  • Nine-bed Short Stay Unit, including one isolation room
  • CT scan room, ultrasound room, and two new X-Ray rooms

The Requirements: 
  • To apply you must hold current registration or be eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • FACEMs or IMGs who have been assessed by ACEM and deemed Substantially Comparable will be considered.
  • New Zealand FACEM apply now
  • NZ SMO willing to be ACEM assessed, apply now
