The Role

An opportunity has become available for several Clinical Assistants (Speech Pathology) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Provide a defined range of speech pathology clinical screening assessments as delegated
  • Independently contribute to therapy resources under the guidance of a speech pathologist
  • Provide a defined range of treatments as prescribed by a speech pathologist and work under their general direction
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively as part of a speech pathology and multidisciplinary team

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Blue card / Working with children check (GCH will cover cost)
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Temporary part time (two positions, 15.2 hours per fortnight up to 29.09.24 and 30.4 hours per fortnight up to 02.03.25, with the possibility of extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $33.52 - $35.24 per hour

About Us

The Gold Coast Health Speech Pathology Service has been active in translating current evidence into new service delivery models for infants, children and adults with communication and swallowing problems. This has included: implementation of innovative models of care for aphasia, voice, and fluency disorders; use of technology, group interventions, speech pathology clinical assistants and student clinics to increase intensity of treatment; expanded scope of speech pathology practice (e.g., Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing Clinic, Speech Pathology, Ears Nose and Throat (ENT) Primary Contact Service); and cough reflex testing. Based in Southport and Robina.
